E2 – Enterprise and Datacenter Device Form Factor E2 is one of the EDSFF set. This specification defines the mechanical attributes of the E2 form factor with the goal of supporting at least 64 NAND packages and fit vertically in standard 2U rack mounted host systems. It prioritizes high capacity and is ideal for high-capacity dense storage servers holding “warm” data in data centers. E2 uses the NVMe protocol over a PCIe 6.0 x4 or better connection.
The physical design adheres to the EDSFF Ruler specification: 200mm in length, 76mm in height, and 9.5mm in thickness (7.9 x 3 x 0.4in). The power per drive is 80W and capacity is up to 1PB with a target speed of 8-10 MBps per TB.

Micron is a major contributor to the E2 standard.
